Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process

Every manuscript submitted to Cashless: Journal of Sharia Finance and Banking undergoes a rigorous evaluation and review process to ensure high academic standards. The editorial workflow is structured as follows:

1. Initial Screening (Desk Review)

Upon submission through the OJS, the Editor-in-Chief or Section Editor will conduct an initial screening. At this stage, the manuscript is evaluated based on:

  • Relevance to the journal's focus and scope.

  • Compliance with the official template and author guidelines.

  • Similarity index check using Turnitin (the maximum allowed similarity is 20%). Manuscripts that fail to meet these basic criteria will be rejected immediately (Desk Rejection) or returned to the authors for preliminary corrections.

2. Double-Blind Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening will be assigned to at least 2 (two) external reviewers who possess specific expertise in the subject matter. This journal operates a Double-Blind Review process, meaning that:

  • The authors' identities are concealed from the reviewers.

  • The reviewers' identities are concealed from the authors. Reviewers are given 3 to 4 weeks to evaluate the manuscript based on its originality, methodology, clarity of analysis, scientific contribution, and alignment with Sharia finance and banking principles.

3. Editorial Decision

Based on the comments and recommendations provided by the reviewers, the Editor will make a final decision regarding the manuscript. The possible outcomes are:

  • Accept Submission: The manuscript is accepted for publication without any further changes.

  • Revisions Required: The manuscript is accepted pending minor revisions from the author.

  • Resubmit for Review: The manuscript requires major revisions and will undergo a second round of evaluation by the reviewers.

  • Decline Submission: The manuscript is rejected as it does not meet the journal's academic standards.

4. Final Production

Once a manuscript is formally accepted, it will advance to the copyediting and layout proofing stage (production) before being officially published online in the scheduled issue.
