Tarbawi: Jurnal Studi Pendidikan Islami

Tarbawi: Jurnal Studi Pendidikan Islami publishes original scholarly manuscripts contributing to Islamic education and relevant interdisciplinary research. In accordance with its Author Guidelines, the journal considers two principal manuscript categories: Original Research Articles and Conceptual Papers. Each submission must demonstrate a substantial connection to Islamic education, including its institutions, curriculum, pedagogy, educational technology, values, or management.

Original Research Articles

Original Research Articles present new findings derived from systematic research and contribute evidence, analysis, or theoretical insight to Islamic education. Appropriate research approaches may include qualitative, quantitative, mixed-methods, case study, survey, classroom-based, historical, or other academically justified designs.

Expected characteristics

  • A clearly identified research problem, objective, and scholarly contribution.
  • Engagement with relevant and current academic literature.
  • A transparent research design, data sources, collection procedures, and analytical methods, as applicable.
  • Findings supported by the collected evidence or systematically analyzed materials.
  • Critical discussion of findings in relation to previous scholarship, along with appropriate implications and limitations.
  • Disclosure of relevant ethical considerations, including participant protection and required research approvals where applicable.

Recommended organization

Title, author information, abstract, keywords, introduction, methods, results and discussion, conclusion, and references, following the current journal template and Author Guidelines.

Conceptual Papers

Conceptual Papers develop, analyze, synthesize, or critically evaluate concepts, theories, educational models, or scholarly perspectives pertinent to Islamic education. They may include philosophical, theoretical, historical, or literature-based examinations that produce a clearly argued intellectual contribution. A manuscript that merely summarizes existing sources without critical analysis or a distinct contribution does not meet this category's scholarly expectations.

Expected characteristics

  • A clearly formulated conceptual issue, argument, or scholarly question.
  • Appropriate engagement with primary and relevant academic sources.
  • A coherent analytical framework or clearly explained approach to selecting and interpreting literature.
  • Critical synthesis, comparison, or development of theoretical perspectives.
  • A substantial contribution to Islamic educational thought, policy, curriculum, pedagogy, or practice.
  • Conclusions consistent with the evidence and arguments presented.

Recommended organization

Title, author information, abstract, keywords, introduction, conceptual or literature-based analysis, discussion, conclusion, and references, adapted as appropriate to the argument and the journal's existing Author Guidelines.

Subject Relevance

Both manuscript categories must address Islamic education as the central scholarly concern. Consistent with the journal's disciplinary orientation, submissions may cover Islamic religious education, interdisciplinary educational studies, and curriculum and educational technology when the connection to Islamic educational research or practice is explicitly demonstrated. Manuscripts dealing exclusively with unrelated general education or technology topics are outside the journal's scope.

General Submission Requirements

  • Originality: Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under simultaneous consideration elsewhere.
  • Languages: Manuscripts may be written in Indonesian, English, or standard Arabic, in accordance with the published Author Guidelines.
  • Length: The existing Author Guidelines specify 11–30 pages or approximately 5,000–9,000 words. Authors should consult the current template for formatting details.
  • Abstract and keywords: Follow the journal's current instructions for abstracts, keywords, and required language versions.
  • Reporting integrity: Authors must accurately report their methods, sources, findings, and limitations, and appropriately acknowledge sources and contributions.
  • Submission: Manuscripts must be uploaded through the journal's online submission system.

Editorial Screening and Peer Review

Manuscripts are first assessed for fit with the journal's objectives and scope, appropriate manuscript type, originality, completeness, and compliance with submission requirements. Articles considered suitable for further evaluation are handled according to the journal's published peer-review procedures. Submission does not guarantee acceptance, and editorial decisions are based on scholarly merit, relevance, methodological or analytical rigor, and publication ethics.
