  • Transparency in research methods, data, funding, and potential conflicts of interest.
  • Fairness and impartiality in editorial decisions and peer-review processes.
  • Confidentiality and respect for the rights, privacy, and dignity of research participants.
  • Accountability for all scholarly contributions and published content.

2. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors submitting manuscripts to Tarbawi: Jurnal Studi Pendidikan Islami must comply with the following ethical requirements:

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must submit original scholarly work that has not been published previously and is not under consideration by another journal. All ideas, quotations, data, and materials derived from other sources must be properly cited. Plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, and inappropriate text recycling are unacceptable.

Research Accuracy and Data Integrity

Authors must ensure that research findings are accurately presented and supported by valid evidence. Fabrication, falsification, manipulation, or deliberate misrepresentation of research data and results is strictly prohibited.

Authorship and Acknowledgment

Authorship must be limited to individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research, manuscript preparation, or interpretation of findings. All contributors must be appropriately acknowledged. All listed authors must approve the final manuscript and agree to its submission.

Ethical Approval and Informed Consent

Research involving human participants, students, teachers, educational institutions, or other identifiable individuals must comply with applicable ethical standards. Authors must obtain informed consent and relevant ethical approval when required. Personal information and participant identities must be protected.

Conflict of Interest and Funding Disclosure

Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, professional, or personal relationships that could influence their research or its interpretation. All sources of research funding and relevant institutional support must be clearly acknowledged.

3. Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are responsible for ensuring that manuscripts are evaluated fairly, objectively, and confidentially. Editorial decisions must be based on the manuscript's scholarly quality, originality, relevance, methodological rigor, and contribution to the field of Islamic education and related studies.

  • Maintain impartiality and avoid discrimination based on personal, institutional, religious, ethnic, or other irrelevant considerations.
  • Ensure that manuscripts undergo appropriate peer review before editorial decisions are made.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and editorial communications.
  • Avoid conflicts of interest in manuscript handling and editorial decisions.
  • Take appropriate action when ethical concerns, suspected misconduct, or publication irregularities are identified.
  • Provide authors with clear and constructive editorial decisions and feedback.

4. Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers play an essential role in maintaining the quality and integrity of scholarly publications. They are expected to:

  • Conduct manuscript evaluations objectively, critically, and constructively.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all manuscripts received for review.
  • Identify relevant published works that have not been properly cited.
  • Report suspected plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, or other ethical concerns to the editor.
  • Decline review assignments when conflicts of interest exist or when they lack the necessary expertise.
  • Submit review reports within the agreed timeframe.

5. Plagiarism and Similarity Screening

All submitted manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism detection and similarity-checking tools. The editorial team evaluates similarity reports carefully, considering the context of matching text, proper citation practices, quotations, and references. A similarity score alone does not automatically establish plagiarism. Manuscripts containing unacceptable levels of unattributed copying or other forms of academic misconduct may be returned for revision or rejected.

6. Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Authors who use artificial intelligence tools in manuscript preparation, language improvement, data processing, or other research-related activities must use such tools responsibly and transparently. AI tools cannot be listed as authors or bear responsibility for scholarly work. Authors remain fully accountable for the accuracy, originality, citations, research findings, and ethical integrity of their manuscripts. AI-generated or AI-assisted content must not be used to fabricate data, references, research findings, or scholarly evidence.

7. Research Misconduct

Research misconduct includes, but is not limited to, plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, inappropriate authorship, manipulation of peer review, undisclosed conflicts of interest, and unethical research practices. Allegations of misconduct will be assessed by the editorial team through a fair and confidential process. Where necessary, the journal may request explanations, supporting documents, or clarification from the parties concerned.

8. Corrections, Retractions, and Post-Publication Issues

The journal recognizes its responsibility to maintain the accuracy and reliability of the scholarly record. Corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions may be issued when significant errors, ethical violations, unreliable findings, or other serious publication problems are identified. Decisions will be made following an appropriate editorial assessment and documented procedures. Published corrections and retractions will be clearly identified and linked to the original article whenever possible.

9. Complaints and Appeals

Authors, reviewers, readers, and other concerned parties may submit complaints or appeals relating to editorial decisions, peer-review procedures, publication ethics, or alleged research misconduct. All complaints will be handled professionally, fairly, and confidentially.
